STEP (Delivering CPD Portal Platform)
STEP is the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning. Their focus is to improve the public’s understanding of the key issues, promote education and the high professional standards they demand from their members so they can support families plan for future, from drafting a will to advising on issues concerning international families, protection of the vulnerable, family businesses and philanthropic giving.
Background & Solution
STEP members are internationally recognised as experts in their field, with proven qualifications and experience.
STEP had a real business issue with the amount of time it was taking to administer the large number of emails being sent to their members that shared critical businesses information including training time-tables and modules. With over 1000 emails being sent per annum, an alternative method had to be found.
Latcham Direct developed a portal that enabled the sending out and return of emails together with the look up and marketing or assessment of submissions by the STEP team. This secured a reduction in administrative time and enabled the team to focus on other core tasks, with improved member engagement by accessing an effective branded channel where CPD responses could be stored, logged and administered.
Val Cox, Senior Manager, Professional Development commented:
“STEP changed its CPD Policy in 2014, from measuring inputs to outputs. As many professional bodies have found, reviewing CPD records that detail outputs is resource-intensive, so we needed to find ways of streamlining the process and using our resources more effectively.
Latcham Direct built a system that automates our initial request for CPD records, sends reminders to those that haven’t submitted a record and collects records so that reviewers can see them all in one place. Members receive confirmation that we have their records immediately and reviewers have more time to read records and send tailored feedback, rather than rushing to respond before anxious members contact us to chase up.
We can produce reports that upload to our database, cutting out the need for manual data entry and the archive function has improved our data protection, because we no longer need to store CPD records on email, our office servers or on paper. I would recommend this kind of system for anyone that needs to monitor professional standards via CPD and has limited time and money to devote to it.”
